Frequently Asked Questions

Why Little Maestros?

Little Maestros is New York City’s go-to infant and toddler music program, trusted by families, educators, and leading institutions for over 20 years. Our classes are thoughtfully designed to support early language, motor skills, and social development through music, movement, and play. What feels like pure fun is purposeful at its core, helping children build confidence, connect with their grownups and each other, and develop a lifelong love of music.

When is the right age to enroll my baby?

People generally start when their child is 3 months old, but whenever you feel ready to start is perfect! All of our Little Maestros content is early-childhood educator approved and appropriate for babies from 3 months - 3 years. For those younger than 3 months, we also offer free pop-up events (both in-person and live streamed on our Instagram) for moms of newborns! For those older than 3 years, you can absolutely still enroll in Little Maestros classes, or check out our new Maestros University classes for ages 3-5 years!

Should I sign up for a drop-in or a session?

Drop-in classes are one-time classes that offer flexibility and are a great way to try Little Maestros or attend on your own schedule. You can sign up for individual classes at any time and join as often as you’d like.

Session registrations enroll you in the same class each week for the full session. This consistency helps children build familiarity, confidence, and deeper engagement with the music, routines, and social environment over time.

Are your classes divided by age groups?

Our Little Maestros classes are not divided by age group, and we usually have a very sweet mix of ages in each class! You can also always switch to another day and time if you'd like to try out a different group.

What can I expect during a class?

Our classes run about 45 minutes and are lively, engaging, and thoughtfully structured to meet children where they are. Each session includes a fresh mix of songs, movement, instruments, books, and puppet play, guided by experienced instructors who keep the flow smooth. We create a supportive environment with clear rhythms and transitions so all children can participate comfortably, whether they jump right in or prefer to observe at first.

What if I need to miss a class?

If you need to miss a class, we completely understand! You can make up a missed class in any public class through the end of the same session. Makeups must be confirmed in advance and are dependent on space available. Switching to another location (for example, switching outdoors to indoors) will incur an upgrade fee if there's a price difference between the classes.

If you need to schedule a makeup or switch class times, please email makeups@littlemaestros.com or fill out the form here and we will help switch you into a class time that works best for you!

What should I bring to class?

You may bring instruments for you and your child, but it's not required at all! At some locations, we will hand out instruments to each child (which we disinfect between each class). Please note we also have a "no snacks" policy in order to keep things as clean as possible. Water and milk is totally okay!

For outdoor classes, we highly recommend you bring a blanket to sit on and any instruments you may have (shakers, bells, tambourines) as we don't hand-out instruments at these. We also sell a Band-In-A-Box with instruments to bring to class, which you can add on at checkout!

What if my outdoor class gets cancelled?

In the event of inclement weather, we try our best to make the call about canceling class around 7am that day. Be sure to check your emails/spam inboxes for any updates. Occasionally, we do have to cancel last minute due to sudden downpours - that’s New York weather for you! Of course, if class is cancelled, you will get a makeup credit for use within the same session!

What if a sibling wants to join?

We offer a 50% sibling discount! Because our classes are interactive and hands-on, little ones in the room naturally participate so siblings within the age range will need to be enrolled. You can add a sibling at checkout and the discount will be automatically applied.

Is your Little Maestro's sibling off school one day or wants to tag along last minute? Add them to an existing booking by emailing us at info@littlemaestros.com, or check in with us onsite and we will charge your card on file.
